Listen up: Awesome!

What I love about “Awesome!” is that it highlights the things that children find awesome, that might get overlooked by grown-ups. It’s also a call-to-action to go on a treasure hunt for that sense of “awesome” that lies within, waiting to be discovered. Give the song a listen and check out the music video (with ASL translation) in the video section below!

Listen up: There’s Music Everywhere (Full Adventure)

“There’s Music Everywhere (Full Adventure)” is one of my most ambitious projects. When recording my second album, my producer,
Michael Seifert, and I wanted to find a way go give listeners an immersive experience while enjoying the songs. We decided to make it a story
complete with catchy songs, sound effects, and voice acting. All the kids have to do is press play and close their eyes. This is especially good for car rides! Check it out! Kid roles are played by the talented Sebrina Seifert and Erek Williams.

From Struggling to Thriving with ADHD
listen now >>

This week we have a great conversation about schooling, music and proving people wrong. Yes, that’s a thing in the world of ADHD. Jesse Friedberg (aka Jesse Jukebox) is a Cleveland-based children’s musician who grew up struggling with ADHD and we discuss a number of topics during our conversation.

Creativity, Strengths, and Islands of Competence

So many people with ADHD crave a creative outlet, but where do you begin? How do you stay on track? Co-host Lynne Edris is joined by children's recording artist, Jesse Friedberg (AKA Jesse Jukebox) to talk about the importance of using your strengths, creativity and your own “islands of competence” when you’re an adult with ADHD. Jesse gives us some insight into his creative process and how you can find your creative side, too.

Listen up: Superhero!

When I was little, my sister and I would put on our Superman and Wonder Woman pajamas and jump on and off all the furniture. Sometimes we would use towels for capes and pretend we were fighting crime in our house! I wrote “Superhero” to remind me of those times I would pretend to be in a comic book and don a superhero outfit. This song is now one of my most requested songs. I also really enjoy all my little sayings throughout the song (holy complicated chorus lines!). Give it a listen!

“We have been very fortunate at the Mandel JCC to have had the opportunity to work with Jesse for a number of years and in a variety of capacities. Jesse is a talented musician, an engaging entertainer and incredibly in tuned to young children and their development. Jesse brings a wonderful energy to his work with our program. He is professional, adaptable, open to feedback, incredibly interactive and willing to take on all different types of musical programs and assignments. Jesse’s positive energy and love for music is contagious and it felt by all our students, families and staff. Jesse leads our Shabbat programming for young families as well as for our toddlers and preschoolers. He also teaches music classes to our young families and participates in our Jewish holiday programming. It is so clear that Jesse loves what he does and has so much fun doing it. Jesse is our go to musician for all of our events!”

“Jesse has been such a wonderful part of our preschool. Due to Covid -19, he is able to join us wherever our students are; their living rooms, kitchens, playrooms, etc, as we connect over Zoom. Music with Jesse is a highlight of our student's week as they look forward to making music through their voices and with instruments. He is personable and makes sure to address each child by name in addition to coordinating his activities with the themes our teachers are teaching to as well. The students look forward to welcoming Jesse and making music with him each week. We look forward to continuing our musical journey with Jesse over the years to come.”
